Tackling Mold & Mildew

Mold and mildew thrive in damp, warm, dark environments with low air movement. These conditions create an ideal breeding ground for these fungi, leading to potential health risks and damage to property.

To effectively remove mold and mildew, use a heavy-duty cleaner that contains bleach. It is crucial to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as gloves and masks, to protect yourself during the cleaning process. Additionally, exercise caution when applying bleach, as it may damage certain surfaces.

To prevent the recurrence of mold and mildew, increase air movement and improve lighting in the affected areas. Consider using dehumidifiers, fans, or opening windows to enhance ventilation and reduce moisture levels.

For tough cleaning jobs, I highly recommend Diversey’s Crew Tile and Grout Rejuvenator. Although it is a bleach-based cleaner, which I typically prefer to avoid, I find it exceptionally effective in this formulation. It excels at removing stubborn stains, whitening and brightening discolored grout, and tackling tough soils and stains such as soap scum, mold, and coffee or tea discoloration. Keep in mind that this product does have a chlorine scent due to the bleach content. Therefore, I strongly recommend using a facemask or some form of facial covering during application to minimize your exposure to the smell and any potentially harmful chemicals
